KANSAS CITY, Mo.�-In the opening round at The Summit League Men's Golf Championship held at Oakwood Country Club in Kansas City on Monday, the Centenary men's golf team posted a score of 295, just seven strokes over par to finish round one in third place.
The Gents were led by sophomore Greg Berthelot's 72 to finish the day tied for sixth. Behind him tied for 15th are teammates Nick Faitz and John Hogan, who each posted an opening round score of 74. Mark Weeber sits tied for 25th after shooting 75 and Denver Green is tied for 40th with a 79.
UMKC leads the way with a team score of 281, seven strokes under par, while Oral Roberts is in second with a 287. Following is Centenary, only a mere 14 strokes out of first place.
ORU's Scott Stiles posted a 18-hole-best 68 to lead the pack. Meanwhile teammates Brett Iliff and Alex Hogben of UMKC are tied for second individually with a 69.
The Gents started the second round of play, but were hit with inclement weather. They plan to play as much as they can and conclude on Tuesday.
