Bennett continued to enhance his impressive resume as he capped the fall season by claiming the individual title in the Crusader Cup hosted by the University of Dallas at Hawk's Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village, Texas on Oct. 29. Bennett fired a 2-under par 142 as he claimed his third-career victory and helped lead the Gents to a third-place tie with the St. Thomas at 27-over par 603. Bennett finished three shots ahead of runner-up Kaden English of Concordia University (even-par 144) as they were the only two golfers to finish at or under par in the tournament.
Snell, the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, climbed up the leaderboard as he shot a 2-under par 70 in the final round to earn a fifth-place finish at 4-over par 148. Snell shot a 6-over par 78 in round one and was tied for 25th but moved up 20 spots. The top-five finish was the second of Snell's young career after finishing third at the SCAC Championships last season.
Briggs finished 23rd at 12-over par 156 as he rebounded from a first-round 81 (+9) with a three-over 75 in the final round. Borchert finished 24th at 13-over 157 (75-82) and Jones tied for 47th place at 24-over 168 (83-85).
Bennett now owns a trio of career wins, nine top-five finishes, and 12 top-10 finishes as he continues to add to his legacy as the top golfer in the division III era of the program. Bennett, the 2024 SCAC Individual Champion and Men's Golfer of the Year, tied for sixth, tied for second, and finished first in three tournaments this past Fall.
The Gents will be in action three times during the month of March, beginning with the FST Pinecrest Invitational in Longview, Texas (March 10-11), then will host their annual home tournament, the Hal Sutton Invitational at The Golf Club at Stonebridge (March 17-18), and finally in the West Regional Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown, Texas on March 31-April 1.
