The Gents (3-11) enter Tuesday's game against the Yellow Jackets (11-7) looking for their first win at home this season as they are 0-4 at the Gold Dome. Howard Payne is 3-6 on the road this season. Tuesday will be the second meeting between the teams this season after the Yellow Jackets beat the Gents 103-82 in Brownwood, Texas on Dec. 12.
Centenary went 1-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on the road over the weekend – winning 68-63 at Austin College and falling by the same score to the University of Dallas. Howard Payne is on a three-game losing streak and dropped a 101-86 decision on Saturday at Hardin-Simmons University.

Scoring: Senior G Quentin Beverly (Katy, Texas) – 17.9 PPG
Rebounding: Sophomore G Nicholas Addison (Cedar Hill, Texas) – 7.4 RPG
Assists: Freshman G Jaden Braden (Natchitoches, La.) – 3.2/game
Blocks: Freshman C Bryce Evans (Austin, Texas) – 1.4/game
Steals: Addison – 1.5/game
The Gents average 70.0 PPG, shoot 41.4 % from the floor, 32.4 % from 3-point range, and 69.9 % from the free-throw line while averaging 32.4 rebounds/game, 10.4 assists/game, 6.3 steals/game, and 1.9 blocks/game.
Tuesday is the first of a season-high five-consecutive home games for the Gents as they will return to SCAC play this weekend against Concordia University and Texas Lutheran University and then have rematches next weekend with Austin College and Dallas.
The top six teams (top three from each of the two divisions) in the conference will qualify for the SCAC Men's Basketball Tournament, which will be held February 27 through March 1 and hosted by Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. The winner of that event will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Gents are currently tied for third place in the Blue Division with The University of the Ozarks.
