Gents Wrap Up Homestand Versus Bulldogs On Tuesday

The Gents (6-12, 4-5 SCAC) and Bulldogs (8-10, 3-6 SCAC) are meeting 10 days later than expected after their original contest scheduled for Jan. 24 was postponed and rescheduled due to weather.
Centenary went 2-0 at home over the weekend, picking up wins over Austin College (71-68 in OT) on Friday and 66-60 over the University of Dallas on Saturday. TLU enters Tuesday's action losers of four-straight games and lost a pair at home over the weekend to the University of St. Thomas 71-69 and to Colorado College 92-84 in OT. The Gents are 3-5 at home this season while the Bulldogs are 1-5 on the road.

Scoring: Senior G Quentin Beverly (Katy, Texas) – 18.4 PPG
Rebounding: Sophomore G Nicholas Addison (Cedar Hill, Texas) – 7.2 RPG
Assists: Freshman G Jaden Braden (Natchitoches, La.) – 3.7/game
Blocks: Freshman C Bryce Evans (Austin, Texas) – 1.4/game
Steals: Addison – 1.4/game
Freshman G/F Kane Broussard (Iowa, La.) averages 10.7 PPG, 6.1 rebounds/game and shoots 42.2 % from the floor, 37.7 % from beyond the arc, and 73.7 % from the FT line. The rookie has scored in double figures seven times this season with three double-digit rebounding performances.
The Gents average 71.6 PPG, shoot 42.5 % from the floor, 33.7 % from 3-point range, and 71.6 % from the free-throw line while averaging 32.7 rebounds/game, 10.9 assists/game, 6.1 steals/game, and 2.1 blocks/game. Centenary is one of the conference's top defensive teams as the Maroon and White are allowing just 71.2 PPG in conference play and only St. Thomas (598) and LeTourneau University (635) have allowed fewer total points this season than Centenary (641 points).
Centenary ranks in the top five in the conference in scoring defense, FG % defense and 3-point FG % defense. Eight of the Gents' 12 losses this season have been by six points or less with a pair of one-point losses.
Centenary is currently tied for second place in the SCAC's Blue Division with Dallas while TLU is in fifth place in the Gold Division. The Bulldogs were picked to finish seventh this season in the preseason poll while the Gents were predicted to finish ninth.
The top six teams (top three from each of the two divisions) in the conference will qualify for the SCAC Men's Basketball Tournament, which will be held February 27 through March 1 and hosted by Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. The winner of that event will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
In Friday's overtime win over Austin College, Beverly led all scorers with 21 points, Braden had 18, Broussard 14, and Evans had a solid game with nine points, seven boards, and three blocked shots. On Saturday against Dallas, Beverly had 13 and Braden capped his sensational weekend as he poured in a season-high 26 points on 11-22 shooting from the floor in 31 minutes with seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals while only turning the ball over one time and committing one foul. He has now reached double figures 13 times this season, in six-straight games and in eight of his last nine.
Beverly has scored in double figures a team-high 16 times this season and done so in five-straight games as he has been held to single digits just twice all season. The senior has scored 20+ points nine times with one 30-point game.
