Gents Set To Face Colorado College On Friday In SCAC Tournament Opener
The Centenary men's basketball team will face the Colorado College Tigers on Friday in the opening game of the 2026 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with tipoff set for NOON on the Hendrix College campus at Cliff Garrison Court inside Grove Gymnasium.

The Gents (10-15, 8-8 SCAC) are the No. 2 seed in the Blue Division and the Tigers (12-13, 10-6 SCAC) are the No. 3 seed from the Gold Division. The winner will face the Gold No. 1 seed, the University of St. Thomas Celts, in the first semifinal on Saturday. Friday's game is a rematch from a game from just a week ago as the Tigers defeated the Gents 81-62 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The seeds for this year's men's tournament are as follows:

TOURNAMENT NOTES:
The Celts, the defending tournament champions, are ranked fourth in the nation in the most recent D3hoops.com poll, have been as high as third, and enter this weekend's conference tournament on a 21-game winning streak - the second longest win streak in SCAC men's basketball history. They are also just the third team in conference history to go undefeated in league play - following the 2022-23 St. Thomas squad (16-0) and the 2007-08 Centre College team (14-0).
St. Thomas is seeking its fourth tournament title since joining the league prior to the 2019-20 season, having won back-to-back championships in 2021 and 2022 prior to last year's title.
The winner of this year's championship tournament, which is being hosted by Hendrix for the first time since 2009, will represent the conference in the NCAA Tournament as the league's automatic qualifier.
The Gents are making their 12th appearance in the SCAC Tournament and have won two titles – 2020 and 2024. Centenary has also made seven semifinal appearances and five championship game appearances. The Gents are 13-10 all-time in program history in the SCAC tournament and 2-3 in the championship game.
The Gents average 70.4 PPG, shoot 41.8 % from the floor, 33.4 % from 3-point range, and 71.7 % from the free-throw line while averaging 33.2 rebounds/game, 10.6 assists/game, 6.2 steals/game, and 2.2 blocks/game.

GENTS NOTES:
Centenary, one of the league's top defensive teams this season, allowed the second-fewest points in conference play and in all games (conference and non-conference).
The Gents ranked in the top five in the conference in scoring defense, FG % defense and 3-point FG % defense in the regular season.
The Gents held 11 opponents to 70 points or less and seven under 65 points this season.
Centenary held seven-straight conference opponents to 68 points or less from Jan. 30-Feb. 14.
Centenary, which started the season 1-9, rebounded to go 9-6 since under first-year head coach J.A. Anglin.
The Gents were predicted to finish ninth in the conference this season yet finished second in the league's Blue Division and tied for the fifth-best record in the SCAC.
Freshman G/F Kane Broussard (Iowa, La.) made a Centenary men's basketball program record ten 3-point baskets in a 94-64 blowout victory over the Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets on Jan. 20 at home. Broussard finished with a season-high 34 points and was 10-15 from beyond the arc. The previous program record for made 3's in a game was nine and was accomplished by AJ Hall on Jan. 12, 2022 against Southwestern University in the Gold Dome. Broussard's 10 treys are the most by a SCAC player in a game this season.
Quentin Beverly joined the 1,000-point club on Jan. 11 with 27 against Schreiner in Kerrville, Texas. Beverly becomes just the 37th Gent to score 1,000 or more career points in the 102 years of Centenary men's basketball and now has 1,244 career points to rank 25th all-time.
Beverly has scored in double figures a team-high 23 times this season and done so in 12-straight games and has scored 20+ points 12 times with one 30-point game. He is fifth in the conference in scoring and is 133rd nationally. He has 451 total points this season, putting him 1118th in the country.
Jaden Braden has blossomed into one of the conference's best first-year players as the rookie reached double figures 18 times this season, in 11-straight games from Jan. 16-Feb. 14 and in 11 of his last 14. He has three 20+-point performances this season and is averaging 13.2 PPG, which is top 20 in the conference and shoots 46.2 % from the floor and averages 2.4 rebounds/game. He is in the top five in the SCAC in assists/game and 117th nationally and top 10 in assist/turnover ratio and minutes played. He has 99 total assists, good for 108th nationally.
Nicholas Addison has been a steady player for the Gents this season as he ranks in the top five in FG %, top 12 in rebounding and in the top 15 in steals. He has reached double digits six times, averages 7.9 PPG, has four double-digit rebounding performances and two double-doubles. Bryce Evans averages 5.6 PPG and 4.4 rebounds/game with three double-digit scoring performances and one double-figure rebounding effort. His 31 total blocked shots are the third most in the conference and tied for 108th nationally.
