Ladies Fall At ETBU On Tuesday

Marshall, Texas - The Centenary women's basketball team fell 93-27 to the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in a non-conference game on Tuesday evening inside Ornelas Gym.
The Ladies (2-6) trailed the Tigers (9-1) by a score of 53-16 at halftime in the second meeting between the teams this season after opening the season against each other on Nov. 7 in Shreveport, a game won by the Tigers 76-50.
Centenary made just nine total baskets in the game, finishing 9-46 from the floor for 19.6 % while ETBU was 29-62 for 46.8 %. The Tigers outrebounded the Ladies 55-21 and forced 27 Centenary turnovers which they turned into 33 points. The Tigers turned the ball over 19 times which led to 15 points for the Ladies.
The Ladies were 3-19 from beyond the arc and 6-8 at the free-throw line while the Tigers finished 12-25 from 3-point range and 23-30 at the FT line. ETBU won the battle inside, finishing with a 32-10 edge in points in the paint, held a 21-2 edge in second-chance points, and 42-15 in bench points. The Ladies had 10 fast break points to the Tigers' eight and Centenary tallied three steals and one assist while the Tigers recorded 12 steals, seven assists, and two blocked shots.
Senior G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) led the Ladies with six points, sophomore G Alexis Duhon (Westlake, La.) and senior F Kyra Stokes (Shreveport, La.) each scored four, sophomore G Nevaeh Rivera (Rosepine, La.) had three, and senior F Layla Powell (Fort Worth, Texas) added two.
Freshman G Nakaylyn Wells (Nacogdoches, Texas) was held scoreless for the first time this season. Wells entered the game leading the team in scoring (13.0 PPG) with six double-digit scoring games. Senior G Savannah Stowers (Waller, Texas) played a season-high 13 minutes and scored five points. Barrow and Duhon each grabbed a team-high three rebounds
Four ETBU players reached double figures led by a game-high 20 points from Anna Beamesderfer. Macey Jones scored 19, Marley Keith 13, and Sara Cowan had 10.
The Ladies are back in action on Friday against Howard Payne University Brownwood, Texas at 5:30 PM.
